Music is a mirror, and sometimes, it becomes a lifeline . . .
During my recent music therapy session at the Clayton County Transitional Center, we listened to “A Letter to My Victims” by R. Kelly. Whatever your perspective on the artist’s past, the song opened a door to something raw, honest, and powerful.
As the lyrics poured out, the room grew still—because sometimes healing sounds like a confession, and sometimes, it feels like finally being seen.
The men embraced the moment, not just the music, but the vulnerability it sparked. You could feel the weight, the reflection, and the hope rising through the silence.
This wasn’t about approval. It was about transformation. About how pain, accountability, and truth can live together in the same breath. How music can stir something within, calling each of us to face our own journey of growth, forgiveness, and healing.
At TLWL, Inc., we believe in creating spaces for these sacred moments, where shame turns into reflection and wounds begin to heal. It is our mission to embrace those who are wounded. Will you embrace them and walk this mission with us? Remember, this journey could be yours or someone you know! My heart is broken. Still, we are here for those in a broken space.
Transformation is possible. And every voice—no matter how broken—has the power to speak truth into the silence.
